Fashion meets Interiors series: featuring style blogger Lan Vo

It may be cold and icy outside, but I have a warm and sunny Fashion meets Interiors feature for you today! Today style blogger Lan Vo of The Lan Line dazzles us with a chic, pastel-inspired outfit & photoshoot based on the vibrant interior design shown below. I really love how it all came together! Read on as style blogger Lan shares her inspiration behind this fabulous outfit:

Hey Y’all! My name is Lan Vo and I am so excited to be featured on Jacquin’s blog series! I am the creative director of the fashion and lifestyle blog, The Lan Line, where I display my versatile style and lover-of-life attitude!

The space I chose is full of pastels and fun colors! Although it is winter, and these colors don’t really go with the season, I still was drawn to the room and how fun it would be to be in it.

I’ve chosen this room because I felt that it matched my bubbly personality. Pastels in interiors are not very common and that is why I love this space. I love trying styles that are not common and going out of my comfort zone.

When I looked at the interior design inspiration, the room reminded me of this particular dress' fun floral embroidered details. Additionally, the dress' shade of blue complemented the room perfectly! I also love the yellow couch and how it adds a pop of color and pattern to the room without overdoing it. It’s so smooth, yet edgy and that’s how I feel about my dress and the details of it.

Of course blush is a perfect pastel shade that can be worn in any season, so naturally I had to add it to my ensemble. I wore my blush statement earrings to accent the pastel blue tones. I think the simplicity in my combination of pastels, makes a big impact in the overall appearance itself, just as pastels do in an interior space.

Fashion meets Interiors series: featuring Joanna Go

Hi, everyone! My name is Joanna Go and I'm Owner and Creative Director of fashion, style, and beauty blog, CutandChicVintage. As a blogger, I'm constantly on the lookout for style that inspires. I believe style inspiration can come from anywhere—from art to interior design, which is why I'm thrilled to style another look for Jacquin's Fashion Meets Interiors series.

The space that I chose is similar to how I've decorated my own place. It's modern, minimal, yet warm. This room has an effortlessly chic quality about it that I often go for in my own wardrobe. Although I'm a minimalist at heart, I'm all for incorporating bold, one of a kind statement pieces for that extra bit of "wow!", just like with the bold abstract paintings featured in black (see interior design photo below).

At first glance, I immediately connected with the room's neutral color palette of black and nudes but, what I love most about this room is its details. Some may say that minimalism has a reputation of being monotonous, or cold and uninviting. However, the trick to pulling off a minimalist look that truly stands out is adding an interesting focal point. There's nothing like a unique bag or a fab pair of shoes to breathe new life into any outfit.

With summer on it's way when I selected this outfit, I couldn't help but dream of exotic getaways and holidays by the beach. That was what attracted me to the natural textures in this room and I wanted to incorporate that into my outfit as well. When I saw this woven bag at ZARA, I knew it was the perfect accessory I can use all summer long. It's so chic and versatile that I can take it from work to play in no time flat. Having a little fun with black clothes & accessories can be a nice change of pace in the summer!

Fashion meets Interiors: featuring fashion blogger Britney Wilson

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend! I am gearing up for the new year and I am so excited to bring you even more of my original Fashion meets Interiors series in 2017. Today I've invited Canadian fashion blogger Britney Wilson to share her interpretation of this luxurious and retro interior space. I must stay that I love the look she came up with. I'll let Britney take it away from here. You'll love her chic style!

Hi, Lovelies! My name is Britney Wilson, and I am the creator of the fashion and lifestyle blog, Pretty Little Hangers. Toronto is the city I call home, but I’m notorious for traveling to exotic destinations around the world to capture unique content to share with my readers. Pretty Little Hangers started as a creative outlet where I could express my love of fashion through inspirational looks that I personally styled; however, within a little over a year; PLH transitioned into an online destination for not only styling tips but trend guides, beauty hacks, and enriching lifestyle tutorials as well.

When Jacquin invited me to participate in the Fashion Meets Interiors segment on her blog, I was delighted to share my thoughts on the interior space of my choice. If you asked me whether or not I think fashion influences interior design trends, my response would be absolutely!

After reviewing this interior space, I was captivated by the beautiful patterns, colors and gold accents. Since this space has a retro 70s flair, I knew these velvet culottes would be the perfect piece to convey this style. I combined hints of plum along with a stylish keyhole blouse and blazer draped over my shoulders to complete my chic office-friendly look and accessorized with stunning gold accented pieces.

I was captivated by the beautiful patterns, rich colors, and gold accents. Since this space has a retro 70s flair, I knew these velvet culottes would be the perfect piece to convey this style.

This interior design is the perfect example of how fashion and interior design trends correlate with one another. Incorporating gold as an elegant accent piece is common in both interior design and fashion. The gold accent pieces and hardware in this office space help to create a polished yet stylish look. Using gold for ornamentation and stylish accents is a timeless element of fashion. If you get a chance to read the latest issue of Architectural Digest or Vogue, you may notice this distinct trend. Textiles, color palettes, patterns, accessories and hardware merge in an innovative yet effortless way, blending the design element of fashion and interior design.

Fashion meets Interiors: featuring Style Blogger Danielle Jackson

Hi  Dolls! I am Danielle Jackson the editor-in-style of my fashion and lifestyle blog Dani-DK.com – Where Style Has Purpose! Dani-DK is a place for women who are looking to turn the conventional upside down and explore their most creative side through style, beauty and life experience. A great space to ask questions and feel inspired!

This fall I’ve gravitated towards rich hues and sleek lines. From gold’s to forest green, nature has truly inspired the collections that I shop. I’ve always loved dark walls but have never lived in a home where I’ve been bold enough to paint an accent wall so this olive and navy blue room really spoke to me.

Rich colors can liven any look. Rich shades effortlessly take you look from basic to bold and add a luxe, well-made feel to your outfit regardless of the true price point. For this look, I pulled together pieces that I’ve purchased over the years. My pants relate back to the clean lines that I’ve been obsessed with this season and I paired it with a sleek lace camisole layered with a blazer and long vest for a bold and interesting look.

As we all know colors speak volumes! There’s nothing like a bright or bold color to lift your mood. The green found in this look is considered a “bridge color” where it creates a great balance between all other colors. So just like the olive green sofa featured achieves grounding this interior, the rich green in my own look effortlessly pulls together my printed blazer and fur stole. Earthy green shades are grounding and powerful, making it a fab color palette to explore with your wardrobe this season.

Fashion meets Interiors: featuring Style Blogger Morgan Lillian

It's time for my favorite series, Fashion meets Interiors, and today I'm featuring style blogger Morgan Gaston of blog Morgan Lillian. If you recognize Morgan, it may be because this is Morgan's second feature on Interiors by Jacquin. You can check out her previous guest post where Morgan explores Spain here. (She was a brunette back then!) It's great inspiration for your next European vacation itinerary. Now let's get back to Morgan's summer-fresh outfit inspired by this earthy & bold interior design. I must say that I love the mustard yellow shade of Morgan's dress! Great color for our current transition from Summer to Fall.

Hi  loves! My name is Morgan Lillian and I do that whole blogging thing over at MorganLillian.com where my niche includes fashion trends, lifestyle, and travel. I'm based here in Seattle, Washington, a notoriously cloudy and misty place except during the summer, when it's the most beautiful place in the country. Summers here truly make the rest of the year worth it. Less clothes, happy vibes, and being able to go downtown and sit on a patio somewhere sipping on a colorful drink are the reasons I live for summer (and live in Seattle!). When it comes to fashion, summer dressing brings the fun, color and creativity back into your wardrobe, as go-to winter shades like blacks and greys get pushed to the back of the closet. Bold shades like yellows, pinks, and oranges emerge, making summer the perfect time for style creativity.

Looking at this interior, I was drawn in by the cool tones mixed with the leather couch. While the couch is mostly a distressed brown, there are some yellow undertones that I love which is where this yellow mustard dress was inspired. In further inspiration of this great room, I added a statement necktie with the colors white, blue, and mustard to pull everything together. Not to mention that a necktie is a chic way to bring your silk scarves into your summer wardrobe. My necktie today is prominent but allows the dress to stand alone, just as the leather couch stands alone, but not in solidarity.

Fashion meets Interiors: featuring Sarah Duquette of Boho & Braids

Today's Fashion meets Interiors feature brings us another fun look that captures the warmth of summer. Take a look Sarah Duquette's fashion interpretation of this whimsical, pastel interior design. Sarah Duquette is a style blogger for Boho & Braids

Boho & Braids is a Canadian blog that features Sarah Duquette's personal style, fashion choices and trends.  As a former teacher, doing what she loves every day is an absolute dream come true. Fashion has been a passion of hers since she was just a little girl, and she feels that every outfit is her very own work of art.

The room that my outfit is inspired after has a very fun feel, from the pastel colors, to the shapes, to the flowers, it just makes you want to smile. That's why I knew I had to find a fun outfit to match this super cool aesthetic and what's more fun than a tulle skirt and sneakers. I just love how the vibrance of the coral pink meshes with the pastel of the mint. It's two colors that you would never think to put together, but when you do, it's pure bliss.  There's something about summer that always has me reaching for pastels and bright happy colors.  I think it's all that sunshine that makes me want to shine bright too and what better way to do that than white, pastel and coral.

Whether it's interior design, outfit styling, makeup application or nail art, they're all connected in many ways.  They all take extreme creativity and passion, and they all start with a blank canvas. It's our job as artists, stylists and designers to make a creation that stands out while capturing individuality and mastering aesthetics.  I hope you enjoy my fashion interpretation of this beautifully decorated room.

Thanks to Belle by Joëlle for her fabulous make up skills and a thank you to Jessica Goguen from Pamper & Polish for my fun nails! Be sure to check out Boho & Braids blog the next time you're surfing the web. Check out where my creative fashion mind will take me next.

Fashionably Yours,
Boho & Braids xoxo

Fashion meets Interiors: featuring stylist Mar'Tee Steward

Today's edition of Fashion meets Interiors showcases the powerful impact of pastel and blush shades in a chic summer outfit! Celebrity stylist Mar'Tee Steward chats with me about life as a stylist, the beauty of blush pink, and why the interior design photo I provided her was so inspirational.

Jacquin: Working as a fashion stylist sounds like a fun job! Tell us all about your career and personal style.

Mar'Tee: My name is Mar’Tee Briann and I am a fashion stylist based out of Los Angeles. I work on a wide variety of projects including TV shows, editorials, celebrity styling, and personal styling. I would describe my personal style as minimalist glam. When it comes to wardrobe I rely a lot on basics and solid color palettes, but I always up the ante with statement accessories.

Image via House Beautiful

Jacquin: What inspired you about the interior design photo to come up with your outfit?

Mar'Tee: I was really drawn to this photo because of the color palette. My personal wardrobe mostly consists of black and white, but when I’m not wearing those colors I tend gravitate to softer hues. The couch in this photo definitely inspired my blush toned dress. I’m obsessed with soft blushy colors at the moment because they always look really pretty and feminine. I decided to add the white blazer to this look to coordinate with the white throw pillows in the photo. I think the white throw pillows add a pop of freshness to the room and I wanted to include that to my outfit too.

Adding a blazer to an outfit will always take your look to the next level, not to mention that bright white makes for a crisp and clean look. Definitely a great reason to try a classic white blazer or jacket. I also decided to do a knee-high black heel to coordinate with the black accents in the photo. One of my favorite elements of this outfit are my geometric cutout shoes. They really compliment the geometric shapes on the throw pillows well. To bring it all together I threw in some dainty black and gold accessories, which bring this look together nicely. My outfit captures the feminine essence of this room.

Jacquin: What is the best thing about your career as a stylist? What are some things that are more challenging?

Mar'Tee: The best thing about working as a stylist is helping people feel their absolute best. Inner beauty will always be the most important thing about an individual, but feeling confident and secure in how you look can be extremely powerful. The most challenging aspect about working as a stylist is the grind. This job isn’t glamorous! Lugging racks, garment bags, duffel bags, steamers, etc. all around town is a hustle and very physically demanding.

Jacquin: What is an average day like for you as a stylist?

Mar'Tee: There is no average day! But that’s what I love about it. I can have a day where I’m running around like crazy- shopping, pulling, and having fittings- or I can have a day where I’m on set for 12 hrs. Some days I work from home and some days I work with personal clients in their homes. Every single day is different and I’ve learned to appreciate that in my career.

Jacquin: What has been your favorite or most memorable styling job so far?

Mar'Tee: My favorite styling job so far was actually a more recent project. A few months back I went on a press tour with actress Holly Robinson Peete to promote her show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, “For Peete’s Sake”. It was a last minute, crazy, whirlwind of a trip but we had so much fun and our whole team bonded. It's was a great experience.

Jacquin: Where is your favorite place to go for creative inspiration?

Mar'Tee: If you saw my everyday wardrobe you’d probably think I was a real city slicker who takes inspiration from urban life. However, those who know me well know that I absolutely love the beach. I’m enamored by its natural beauty and seemingly simplistic nature. Although it may not inspire my wardrobe directly, it certainly inspires me creatively and allows me to stay grounded in the present moment. I always leave the beach feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. My favorite beaches in the greater Los Angeles area are in the South Bay – Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach etc. They tend to be less crowded and have a small town vibe. If I can’t manage to make it to the beach, sometimes I just enjoy being poolside with a book while listening to some smooth R&B or reggae music. A perfect afternoon for me.

Stylist Mar'Tee Steward's favorite place for creative inspiration is Hermosa Beach in California.
