Cluster Lighting for the Chic and Adventurous

Image via JS Interior Design Blog

When it comes to lighting, cluster lighting never fails to add depth and visual interest to a room.  Some ask, why hang one beautiful chandelier when you can hang three? (or more!)  I agree with this sentiment.  Take a look at what cluster lighting can do for a space... really quite transformative!  Get a little adventurous and try clustering your lighting to add a touch of whimsy to your home!

David Derksen Design

There are various ways you can go about creating a lighting cluster.  There are several lighting stores offering single chandeliers that create a similar effect to hanging multiple individual chandeliers.

You can also hang a series of the same chandelier and create a set or even mix and match varying chandeliers in a cluster.  With clustered lighting you can really use your creativity. Keep reading to see my top picks for cluster lighting at the end of this post.

Fashion meets Design - The Series

I've been eagerly waiting to debut the newest Interiors by Jacquin series, Fashion meets Design!  Each month I will feature a guest fashion blogger or stylist who will bring their style interpretation to an interior design image that I provide for their inspiration.  Let's see what look fashion blogger Jessica Wynne was inspired to create based on this bohemian-chic bedroom design, including links to shop the look!

Hi there! I’m Jessica Wynne, an attorney by day and the fashion blogger behind For the Love of Bubbly. I live in Jacksonville Beach, Florida and Vail, Colorado with my husband Chris (the man behind the lens) and our two dogs Sadie and Luna. For the Love of Bubbly is a creative outlet where I can share my personal style, love of fashion, travel adventures, and even photos from my recent wedding in Colorado. I am so excited to partner with Jacquin for my first post about interior design.

Honey Punch Kimono (unavailable online, love this one) // LNA Tank Top //

My style is somewhat eclectic. I love changing up my look – It is one of the things I love most about fashion! I like to go boho, glam, casual – But no matter what I am wearing, it is always feminine. I was so inspired by this particular room because it combines all of the different types of styles I am attracted to. The chandelier and window shades give the room a boho look. The mirror, lamp, and stools make the room glamorous. Finally, the pillows, relaxed throw, and the fact that it is a bedroom give off a casual vibe. It reminds me of a room I would see in a house in my beach town!

All of these elements inspired the look I am wearing. I styled the white and gold kimono with casual all white to mirror the colors in the room. I added the red bag for a fun pop of color, much like the pink throw and flowers. I topped the look off with one of my favorite necklaces to give it both a boho and glam look. I hope my look serves as a source of fashion inspiration for you!

So, who is loving the newest Interiors by Jacquin series, Fashion meets Design?

Lenny Kravitz - An All Around Artist

You may know Lenny Kravitz as a legendary rock n' roller, but he's also an awesome designer, too!  Lenny Kravitz is a premier residential and commerical designer and founder of Kravitz Design, which has been creating beautiful and dramatic interior designs since 2003.  I've found that many of the best artists have talents in multiple art forms and this is certainly true for Lenny Kravitz.  Here's a look at the unique designs of Lenny Kravitz.

This dramatic black and white living room, below, features one of Kravitz's favorite furniture items, Ligne Roset's "Togo" sofa.  Kravitz told Elle Decor that the Togo sofa was one of his top 9 must-have items.  He has this sofa in each of his homes, he says, simply because it's "timeless, organic, and supercomfortable."  Take a look at how he designed around the unique and comfy sofa in his Paris home below.

Kravitz Design also designed the set for The Queen Latifah Show!  (shown above and below.)  I love the dramatic, metal cut-out wall featured along the staircase.  Kravitz always gives you a punch of art and luxury in each design. You'll notice this in the next designs featured below, as well.

Lenny Kravitz has recently teamed up with Lea Ceramiche to create a contemporary tile collection featuring their interpretation on tri-dimensional decor.  Kravitz also designs furniture, but of course!  He really is an all around artist.  I have featured one of the chair collections he collaborated on later in this post.

The chairs, shown above, are the product of the collaboration between Lenny Kravitz and French designer Philippe Starck.  They worked together to re-imagine the "Mademoiselle" chair of Italian furniture company, Kartell. Kravitz brought his rock n' roll approach to the design and reupholstered this chair in edgy materials like python and fur.  If you like these chairs and want to add a little rock n' roll to your home, they are currently available at Hive.

These are two of my favorite Lenny Kravtiz designs (above, below).  I really enjoy the mix of the bright, contemporary white furniture with the more organic wood beamed, ceiling and ethereal, cloud like quality of the lighting (above).  And as you know,  I love when sculpture art is included in residential design.  Such an artful touch!

Below, all of the patterns presented make for a unique and visually interesting dining space.  From the chevron flooring to the patterned ceiling and sunny yellow chandeliers, this room is delightfully memorable.

So, if you thought Lenny Kravitz was talented before, I'm sure you're really impressed now!  He is an artist by all standards.  I'm looking forward to seeing what Kravitz Design does next!  What do you think of his design work?

5 Recipes for Multi-Functional Furniture

Save Space and Kill Two Birds with One Stone

Today I've teamed up with CustomMade and Ghergich Connect to bring you wonderful tips for creating multi-functional furniture for your home.  CustomMade is a unique marketplace for connecting people seeking one-of-a-kind creations with professional, and passionate makers of all sorts of goods and furniture.  Ghergich Connect is an awesome infographic & content marketing company, and together we're bringing you the 5 furniture "recipes" you need to save space and kill two birds with one stone.

When is a chair not a chair? When it’s a bookshelf, or a table, or a wall panel, or a phone charger! The multifunctional furniture renaissance is here, and it brings seemingly endless ways to re-imagine not only furniture’s function, but its form as well.
Multifunctional furniture bolsters the “less is more” attitude of the tiny-house and minimalist movements. Plus with fewer materials, it can also be a sustainable alternative to traditional furnishings. And today’s modern designs have a little something for everyone.
Furniture that changes shape on a whim to match different needs is a fun conversation starter. But for some people, a piece that pulls double duty is legitimately beneficial, if not necessary to their lifestyles.  Take a look at these "recipes" for multi-functional furniture at home.  Perfect for exploring the benefits of doing more with less!

1.  Coffee table to Entryway Bench

2. Bookcase to Workstation

3. Crib to Desk

4. Dresser to Bathroom Vanity

5. Kitchen Cart to Dining Room Bar
By making a few small changes, your furniture can pull double duty, accomplishing more with less and ultimately saving money.  Innovations in furniture design play right into these trends and inspire the world to consider: What could we do, if we did more with less?

Bringing luxury to laundry

Need a reason to get excited about doing laundry?  How about a chic and spacious laundry room!  These laundry rooms help me to remember that doing laundry can be luxurious, or at least a pleasant experience, if you're in the right setting and using the right tools!  A well-designed laundry room along with luxurious laundry detergent and top of the line fabric softener will do the trick!

Image via Atlanta Homes

The wallpaper in this Atlanta Homes feature is just stunning!  Giving yourself something pretty to look at while working on laundry will help you in your enjoyment of laundry tasks.  If you live in a space where wallpaper isn't feasible, you can always bring in wall art, photos and colorful plants to transform your laundry room into a pleasant oasis to get things done in.

I love the colors in this vibrant laundry room!  This would definitely be a boost when pushing through that last load.  I would definitely consider a fun, graphic wallpaper in my laundry room.

You can't go wrong with a colorful washer and dryer!  So many bright options are available now.  Opting out of the standard white washer and dryer set and going with a bold pop of color will likely be a welcome change to your laundry routine.

A clean, neutral laundry room featuring the natural beauty of plants and flowers will also add a bit of life to your laundry space.  This is an easy addition we can all make, and I bet it will make a difference!

A Sneak Peek...

It's Friday, the sun is shining, and I have a sneak peek to reveal to you today! I've been working to make improvements to the Interiors by Jacquin brand and website and I'm excited to show you a bit of what I've been working on.  I've teamed up with awesome illustrator Natalia Hubbert to bring my interior design vision to life... or to illustration rather, but a stunning illustration it is!  I began to design my interiors vignette by developing an inspiration board, which I provided to Natalia.  Take a look at how my work went from inspiration to illustration!

So what do you think?  I just love it!  Natalia did an amazing job.  Stay tuned to see what I have in store with this awesome illustration and more!  Have a great weekend!
